A Welsh-language digital reading resource designed for primary school children, educators, and parents.
With the mission of fostering bilingualism and a love for reading, Darllen needed a comprehensive rebuild of their platform to meet the demands of modern users. Seedable Studio was entrusted to create a solution that is scalable, accessible, and inclusive—one that supports Darllen’s vision of reaching every child in Wales with quality Welsh-language books.

The Problem
Overcoming Technical and Accessibility Barriers
Darllen’s existing platform was struggling to keep up with the needs of its growing audience. Performance issues led to slow load times and a frustrating user experience, particularly for educators managing multiple student accounts. The platform’s user management system lacked flexibility, making it difficult for teachers and parents to track progress effectively.
Additionally, the reading interface needed a more intuitive design to support young learners and ensure accessibility for all users, including those with additional learning needs. To truly fulfil its mission of fostering bilingualism and a love for reading, Darllen required a scalable, inclusive, and future-proof solution that could engage and support every child in Wales.

Building a Scalable and Reliable Platform
The development process was rooted in a Test-Driven Development (TDD) approach, ensuring that every feature was rigorously tested before implementation. By writing unit and feature tests first, we built a stable, maintainable, and reliable platform from the ground up. To support Darllen’s long-term growth, we implemented scalable hosting solutions, allowing the platform to expand seamlessly as user demand increases.
A monolithic framework provided a solid foundation for performance and efficiency, while AI-driven book tooling streamlined content management and enhanced the reading experience. Additionally, we introduced advanced data management and analytics features, empowering educators and administrators with valuable insights into user engagement and progress.
